Veera Narayana Temple, Belavadi

The Veeranarayana temple of Belavadi is a daring trikuta temple with an uncommon plan situated 10 KM from Halebidu . After the famous temples of Belur Halebidu and Somanathapur this Hoysala temple is the most impressive one for a tourist visit . The temple has been built around 1200 AD and is carefully maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India .

The temple has an uncommon plan.Usually in a trikuta model temple , the three shrines share one small common hall , but here the two lateral shrines are attached to the lateral sides of a large open hall . Thus the front view of the temple is very impressive , because it shows a broad hall and the sides of two complete shrines facing each other.Behind this large open hall a complete temple with a small open hall,a closed hall and a third shrine is found . The whole temple is build in two stages firstly an ekakuta with two small hall, later on followed by a vast open hall with two additional hall with additional two shrines.

As in all Vaisnava trikuta temple  each of the shrines are installed with a form of Vishnu .The central shrine has the idol of Narayana , the Southern Shrine has the idol of Venugopala and the northern Shrine has the idol of Yoganarasimha
